Some time during the early 80's I had a thru neck custom electric made for me by Rob Armstrong of Coventry. While we were developing the design, we decided to insert a brass block just below the bridge and tail piece and mount those components through the mahogany top and into the block. Needless to say, the sustain was and still is impressive. If memory serves me correctly, Rob used an oscilloscope and bench tested the sustain at nearly a minute.

From then on, I have always been wary of ...

If it was closer, then I'd consider cash on collection, but there's no way I would buy it with effectively no paypal protection.

Here are 2 of my favourite guitars the first is a Red Trevor Rabin Signature Series III I swapped out the pickups for EMG's 85/SA/SA, I love the neck on this is wide and very thin.. it's very fast and the tremolo is a dream! its called a TRS-1, I've seen this trem on other westones there's one at a local Music-Go-Round near me it's a Villian Std there's a picture of one below, I had never seen one of these before I went to check it out... its got a real nice neck on it very much like the TRS ...

In the photo of the back of the neck of this guitar, is there anything to worry about?

There's a line on the side of the neck that does look to me just like a surface scratch/mark. But, the line of the scarf joint looks a bit too distinct. Could there be any chance that it's starting to crack there?

Anyone come across this one?

A recently acquired Westbury had issues in terms of fret and fingerboard wear which I have addressed. There were deep gouges in the board up to the 5th fret so I was getting a tremelo effect as I pressed down into the holes.

As I say, these issues have been addressed and action and intonation have been set up.

There is, however, a continuing problem in that the G string sounds sharp when fingered at the 4th fret. It is puzzling as it is spot on when played ...

Part of the reason that I want another PRS grade instrument is due to our ridiculously awesome new PA system. We went with the Bose L1 system - and it has really changed the way we approach our performances. The system is so clear and full range - that what you put in - is what you get out.

While I love that x960 through a conventional amp type rig - it is just not up to snuff in a full range direct input role that I use with the Bose while we are performing. I used it last saturday for ...

I have a Thunder III (see member's Westones area) and I desperately want a hard case to keep it safe whilst being shipped to and from gigs. Are there any hanging around in people's lofts, garages, back rooms, that are surplus to requirements? Please PM me with details. Am willing to pay a decent price with shipping.

It can't be easy been a guitar legend, not only do you have to play like you sold your soul every night, you also need to spice up your stage routine with history making and death defying guitar stunts.

Hendrix would dry hump his guitar then set it on fire, Townsend used to impale his guitar through the nearest amp, he also has his trademark windmill strum, although he did end up impaling his hand on a Strat trem arm once while doing it! So I was looking about for alternatives--cheap alternatives.

I found this handy template which you might find useful. You ...

Hi

Just got a Westbury Deluxe last night and it had obviously been used for some heavy chords over its life. The first 4 frets had some pretty deep furrows, and action could not be adjusted acceptably.

I was toying with the idea of a partial refret when I thought about using solder to fill the furrows before doing a minor redressing and crowning job.

Anyway, I tried it and it seems to work. Frets are level, action is now fully adjusted and the guitar now plays like a dream.

Yeah, right, That was what, 27 years ago? and I never returned to the shop (excited as I was with my new purchase.) So now, all these years later, I'm actually doing something about setting it up because, you know how it is; I thought it was about time.
